Emotions during your solo tantra session: from tears to tingles (and why everything is welcome).
You’ve set aside time for a solo tantra ritual: candles lit, soft music playing, warm oil ready, and a curious, open mindset. No rushing, no goal-oriented chase for an orgasm—just pure slowing down and tuning into sensation. And then, just as you sink deep into relaxation, something unexpected happens.
A lump forms in your throat. A wave of old grief rises up, a sudden flash of frustration hits, or perhaps a fit of uncontrollable laughter takes over.
Many people are startled by this and think: “Wasn’t I doing a tantra ritual for pleasure and relaxation? Why do I suddenly feel so overwhelmed?”
The answer is simple and reassuring: there is nothing wrong with you. This is exactly how deep tantra works. In a solo tantra session, you open the gateway to your entire inner world, and that includes *all* emotions.
Why Tantra Triggers Deep Emotions
Unlike a quick solo sexual encounter, Tantra invites you to be present in your entire body. While in daily life we often unconsciously store tension, stress, boundaries, and old pain in our pelvis, hips, and connective tissue (fascia), a solo Tantra ritual invites you to let that armor drop, layer by layer.
When you approach your pelvic area using slow breathing, conscious touch, or a gentle crystal wand, two things happen:
Your nervous system shifts into a state of deep safety: your body senses that there is no pressure to perform.
Stored life energy (prana or kundalini) begins to flow: as soon as energy moves again, it carries along everything it encounters—including old, unprocessed emotions.
An emotional release during tantra is therefore not a sign that the session has failed; rather, it is the ultimate proof that you are clearing away energetic and physical blockages.
What emotions might you encounter?
During a solo tantra journey, the entire spectrum can emerge:
Sadness or grief: Often linked to past moments where you crossed your own boundaries or felt unheard.
Anger or frustration: Powerful energy released when you reclaim your own power and boundaries.
Shame or resistance: A very natural feeling once you allow yourself to view your own desires and body without judgment.
Ecstatic joy & fits of laughter: Sometimes, pent-up sexual energy releases not as tears, but as pure, liberating cheerfulness.
4 Tantric tools for dealing with rising emotions
How do you stay relaxed and centered when the waves run high?
- Let go of the story (No Story, Just Sensation)
The mind immediately wants to find a reason: Why am I feeling this? Whose fault is this? In Tantra, we let go of the mental story. Focus purely on the physical sensation: does it feel warm, cold, heavy, or tingling? Remain a witness to the feeling without attaching a label to it.
- Use the holy trinity: Breath, Sound & Movement
Tantra uses three anchors to let energy flow:
Breath: Keep breathing deeply into your belly and pelvis. Do not hold your breath.
Sound: Sigh, moan, or let the emotion flow out audibly through an open throat.
Movement: Gently sway your pelvis or shake out your arms so that tension doesn’t get trapped.
- Shift to nurturing
Does the emotion feel too intense for sensual stimulation? Pause the intimate touch for a moment. Place one hand on your heart and the other on your lower belly. Wrap yourself in a warm blanket and give yourself the comfort and sense of being held that you need in that moment.
Welcome the emptiness that follows
Physiologically, an emotional wave often lasts only 60 to 90 seconds if you do not fight it. As the emotion recedes, a deep, still calm settles in your body. That is the space where pure, unfiltered pleasure and full-body orgasmic energy can flow freely.
The gateway to deeper pleasure
Tantra teaches us that pleasure cannot be separated from our sensitivity. When we dampen our unpleasant feelings, we simultaneously dampen our capacity for ecstasy. By welcoming your tears, your vulnerability, and your shivers during your solo sessions, you simply expand your capacity for pleasure.
So: light that candle, take a deep breath, and welcome everything your body wants to tell you during your solo ritual.
